She served 4 years in the United States Army before attending college at West Virginia Wesleyan College, attaining a Bachelor and Master Degree of Science in Nursing. She is running for affordable utilities, strong public schools, dignity and respect for workers, and real solutions to generational poverty. Her campaign is rooted in lived-experience because West Virginia deserves leaders who understand what it means to survive here.

About: Mandy Weirich is social work educator with nearly two decades of experience serving the people of West Virginia. Prior to her social work career, she was a police officer in Chesapeake VA. She has worked her entire life and put herself through college; she has a Bachelors degree from St. Leo University in Criminal Justice and a Masters of Social Work degree at WVU with a focus on Gerontology. Mandy and her husband, Ryan, have been married for over thirty years and both of their children are graduates of Elkins High School.

While running, she continues to serve on the 211 list in her community, doing food deliveries, transportation, child care, elder care, and housing services. She is also still volunteering her legal services to some of the most vulnerable members of the community: families in the foster system, immigrants, victims of domestic violence, people appealing or applying for benefits, and people with disabilities.
